Stories of the house I live in now...
This image was taken by Tyler, our 10 yr old son. He was building his Magnetic's creations in his room when he took this picture prior to destroying the design. He ran upstairs with this on the review screen asking what the heck it was. I first asked if it was the camera strap---- even though I know it cant be (it attaches from the bottom right corner, not the top left, is dark grey and the rest of the picture is not blurry to indicate he was waving the camera around. He said nothing was spinning to create the light wave...but there is some flash reflection on the base of his stand. I can only say what it isnt, not what it is.... so for now- the jury is still out
What's in this house?
Firstly, moving into this home was fantastic- I enjoyed the entire exerience. I was so happy to be moving AWAY from Grandma and her negativity that the thoughts of what might be in THIS house did not cross my mind until we were actually living here. For a couple years previous, Glen and I had been delving into taking photographs, visiting cemetaries and just general discussions of the dead and ideas of ghosts. Glen has a few different views than I so it makes for real interesting conversations, especially when we both can put our theories aside to share possibilities of another.
We'd joked around a bit with the idea ...what would we do if we had a haunted house? Depends on the situation right? Can whatever be explained as a natural occurance before jumping to the Ghost conclusion? .... Not long after we'd moved in, Glen went to 2nd shift- which put him coming home sometime past midnight. I'd always leave the light above the kitchen sink on for him. He says on several occasions he's been standing there with a glass of water when he sees something move behind him like a shadow of a person walking past. No sounds..no strange feelings.. but our windows are double paned with storm windows on the outside..so that could create a double-reflection effect in the darkness. We've both tried to recreate it, however and none such similarity has been verified. We kept this discussion away from the children---- keep this in mind for future accounts..
My first encounter was during the day while the children and Glen were away at work and school and it was just myself and Morgan- who was napping. I was into the last few minutes of CSI when Morgan woke up crying. I knew he was fine but I really wanted to catch this last couple minutes--you see.. Well when the commercial came, I got up, went around the couch and started down the hall to soothe his sobbing when I noticed something small and dark wisp backwards from Morgans doorway back into Kaytie's room. I stood still thinking..'what the heck was that?' My first thought was that one of the cats had jumped from her top bunk and the shadow must have cast into the hallway. I'd spoken to Morgan so that he calmed down and was no longer crying, but waiting for me patiently...as I checked Kaytie's room for animals. None were in there. Not in the closet or under the bed or ON the bed either. A rarity actually as we have 9 indoor/outdoor cats, her room is a favorite of theirs. I tried to dismiss the thought that it could have been someone trying to check on the baby since I was preoccupied. still....the thought lingered.
Next came Kaytie's account. From the first few months of our stay here she'd been experiencing bad dreams. Not suprising after what all we'd gone through with Gramma- and now all of a sudden the brother she shared rooms with for three years was in his own across the house. She comes outside and tells us that the "thing" wont let her sleep. Glen and I look at each other with wide eyes--- wondering.......but also thinking she's imagining things or dreaming--- so we inquire further. " What thing?" ---- " The thing that pokes me in the back trying to wake me up"......... !@%$# ????? Well, she goes on to tell us that she rolls over facing her wall and all of a sudden this thing goes " Poke poke poke" in her back, like a finger trying to arouse her. She rolls back over to confront whoever it is and sees nothing. Kaytie said herself she thinks its a ghost but she wasnt scared of it until she saw the look on our faces. Course, I tried to tell her, there arent ghosts in her room or anywhere else in the house, but I also said that next time it happens, say " Please dont poke me, Im trying to sleep" and it should leave her alone.
We decided to make an evening ghost hunt out of it and take some pics....there was nothing in any of the rooms, not Ty's room, Morgans room, the kitchen or living room, bathroom or hallway... but there was two orbs in our room, and about 5 in Kayties room near her closet. Freako- city! I've taken pics in the house before and never saw anything -- maybe its just the camera or something. The orbs in our room were above Glen's emergency radio- so there's some explaination of energy there...and in her room, the fuse box is in her closet. I'm more inclined to think that it is displaced energy before "spirits" but hey...orbs dont poke. A year later and she still experiences this sometimes. Now she says she tells it to please stop and it does. If she starts saying the ghost is messing up her room I'll have to put my foot down. HA! When her account surfaced, both of the older children started thinking it was a ghost. I could no longer hide the suspictions but they definately didnt seem bothered by it.
Stay tuned for Part II
